A native of Pennsylvania, I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was about 10 years old. It was a fall Sunday Night revival service at a little white, wood clad, holiness church.
The day after I graduated from Bible College in 1975, I married Sheryl Elaine Flokstra. We have two (2) boys (David & Jonathan). Sheryl & the boys are God's special gifts to me. We often tell people that we have adopted Janna is our daughter because God has given her to us and is a vital part of this ministry, as well as being the same age as our boys. The Lord has been preparing us as His tools for His use since the day we were married. Besides singing, working in music and serving God, I love coaching sports, gardening, cooking (not cleaning up) and a lot of other things. I was born in Minn., the youngest of two girls of Missionary/Pastor parents. As a result, I lived in Liberia, West Africa and all over the States including both coasts. I gave my life to Christ as a young girl. God not only saved me, but He kept me from a life of sin. I met John in college and we married the day after graduation. God has blessed us with two wonderful boys who love the Lord and are in ministry in local churches. David, our oldest, married Ali Bell on Nov. 10, 2001. He is an architect in training in Clermont, FL and Ali is a kindergarten teacher in Davenport, FL. In Nov. 2001, they accepted the youth pastor postion at Ridge Assembly in Davenport, FL. Jonathan, our youngest, graduated from college Sept. 2001 and is working for Clair Bros in Lititz, PA. where he is a sound technician. He also asked Candy Martin to marry him at Christmas time. They have set a June 14, 2003 wedding date. Jonathan lives in Carlisle, PA. We are excited about what God is doing in this stage of our lives. I enjoy crafts, needle point, reading and my family. I was born in Doverfoxcroft, Maine and I am an only child. My family moved to Anthony, Florida when I was five years old. My parents raised me up in the love of the Lord and taught me to live by His Word, and on Mother’s day of 1986 at age six, I gave my heart to Jesus. I am thankful that I came to know the Lord at a young age. It has spared me a lot of grief. Beginning at age 13, I took piano lessons. Since then, I have had the privilege of being our church pianist. Currently, along with being part of THE WILLING HEARTS ministry team, I work in the church office and direct children’s church. I'm also enrolled part time at Central Florida Community College pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. I feel that God has called me to be in ministry, though I don’t know exactly what area yet. I have a heart for home and foreign missions, and for church, music, and children’s ministries. All I know is that God has a plan and purpose for my life, and He will direct my path as I obey Him.
